“And Five Were Foolish”

five foolish virginsHo, every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in fatness. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love… (Isaiah 55:1-3 RSVA)

Most of us who read this blog have given our lives to the Lord. Once we started living this new life in Christ we became new spiritual creatures. We set out to find spiritual food, like a new born babe looks for its mother’s breast making sucking movements with its little mouth. My wife, Dorothy, and I have had four children and she breast fed each of them. There is nothing more sacred or peaceful than watching a baby nurse from its mother’s breast.

In the natural the mother lays the child on her breast and it takes to sucking on it immediately without needing to be taught that this is what it is for. But what if the mother puts in its mouth on a bottle with artificial formula or cow’s milk in it? Will it be as good for the baby as her own milk? Scientists have found out that first flow from a mother’s breast is special milk called colostrum. The mother passes her immunity to the baby through the colostrum, and the child will be a much healthier baby with fewer problems. The Bible calls this milk in the spirit world, “The pure milk of the word.” Peter wrote,

As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word (Logos – as “In the beginning was the Word…”) that you may grow thereby: If so be you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious. (1 Peter 2:2-4 KJ2000)

According to this passage, whose breast should we be nursing on right from the beginning as spiritual infants? “If you have tasted… the Lord…coming unto the Living Stone…chosen of God…” JESUS is the Word that we should be getting our nourishment and spiritual immunity from right from the beginning, not the breasts of men! But how many of us who have been born again were put on His breast right from the beginning? How many were taught to seek our spiritual sustenance from Sunday sermons and Sunday School classes in the churches we attended? Most of us were taught nothing about the Comforter Jesus sent in His place who would lead us into all truth (see John 16:13-15 also 1 John 2:26-27).

Now to my point. Jesus told a parable about ten virgins that were called to His wedding feast. Five were wise and five were foolish. What do you suppose it is that made some of them wise and the others foolish? Let’s read…

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go you rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of man comes. (Matthew 25:1-13 KJ2000)

It is interesting that all ten of them were virgins and all were waiting for their Bridegroom to come. Yet the fate of half of them was not good. Their lamps had gone out while they slept and the Bridegroom was delayed. Why? They had been in the habit of getting their oil from other virgins, piecemeal… just enough get by. But the wise virgins knew where the real source of their oil was to be found, Him that has the supply! The later in this dispensation of grace it gets, the more important it is that we have a good supply of oil if we are going to make it through these times of trouble that are upon us.

In the Daily Study Bible they comment about this parable.

It warns us that there are certain things which cannot be borrowed. The foolish virgins found it impossible to borrow oil, when they discovered they needed it. A man cannot borrow a relationship with God; he must possess it for himself. A man cannot borrow a character; he must be clothed with it. We cannot always be living on the spiritual capital which others have amassed. There are certain things we must win or acquire for ourselves, for we cannot borrow them from others.

In the Bible, oil is symbolic of the anointing of God. They who have the Holy Spirit should know where their oil comes from–the same One who gave them spiritual life in the first place. ”Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:13 KJ2000)

To the foolish virgins the Lord said, “Verily I say unto you, I know you not.” But wait! They were all virgins, were they not? And is it possible for the all-knowing God to not know one of us? This verse is speaking of a lack of intimacy with Christ as our Bridegroom. Jesus knows who have been feeding from His breasts and who have not – who have been taught by His Holy Spirit and who have been nursing from the breasts of teachers and preachers who have no unction.

Jeremiah prophesied this very problem that Israel was also guilty of.

Be appalled, O heavens, at this, be shocked, be utterly desolate, says the LORD, for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:12-13 RSVA)

So, dear virgins who are called to be His bride, where do you get your oil? Whose breasts are you drinking from? How good is your spiritual immunity? It is crucial that you find out where your Source of spiritual food is!

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spoke he of the Spirit, whom they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) (John 7:37-39 KJ2000)

    Dear Michael
Yes, it will be a sad day when the virgins whose lamps are filled with the toxic fumes of religion will be denied access to the wedding day of Jesus and His bride who is filled with the oil of His Spirit!
    Blessings xx

Thank you Mia. Good to hear from you again. Religion is such a deception. So many are only given enough “christ” to inoculate them against Him.

Dear Michael, this was such a good post! I understood every word. I fellowshipped with an elderly lady whom the LORD sent me to …. she was 84 years old and all her life had listened to sermons, preacher after preacher, yet she confessed she had never heard of the Holy Spirit. She knew I was different. I loved her Michael but she could not make that transition of man’s teaching to the source of Living Waters, yet she said when I came she felt more alive. Sadly she still sits in the pews and slowly grew colder to what I said. She received me, then slowly I was ousted out. I just think how sad, all those years, all those lies really. I really enjoyed this and really understood more of this story. God Bless Michael and thank you jacqui xx

Dear Jacqui, Such a sad story you have shared, but alas it all too common. Jesus said that some of the seed of the gospel will fall by the wayside and that the birds of the air will come and snatch it up before it can take root. It is interesting how this very thing happen with your sharing the gospel with this old church bound woman.

It is interesting to me that these same “birds of the air” spoken of in the beginning of Matthew chapter thirteen have found their home in the upper branches of the lowly mustard plant that grew to become “a great tree.” He refers to the church as we have come to know it in these parables as “the Kingdom of Heaven” not to be confused with the Kingdom of God IN heaven. Matthew thirteen is almost all a prophesy by Jesus of what the Church would become in the later days in its fallen state, thoroughly leavened and puffed up.

Dear Ann, I am glad that you were touched by what God put on my heart to share. It is always wonderful to wait on Him and not post anything until I hear Him telling me to do so. What is REALLY amazing it that I do not know what I am going to write until He orders my thoughts just before I start to type and then adds more as I get the first thoughts written down. Life is so much easier when we rest In Him and cease from our own labors and let Him make His fruit through us as He wills.
      God bless you sister,

Yes, Bernie, God has not changed in wanting to have a relationship with His people and have them respond to Him as His loving wife. This theme is common throughout the Bible. The major difference between the O.T. and the New is that the Spirit rested upon key individual in authority and leadership in the Old and He was released to ABIDE IN ALL who are born from above by the Father in the New Covenant. The former is totally outward just as the law demanded under punishment an outward conformity of Israel while their hearts remained far from Him. The New Covenant is all about an inward change with a new heart, a new law of love written upon our hearts, a new spirit and a new mind and these make all the difference in bringing forth a people who love Him the way He desires.

  5. There’s lots of sobering warnings in scripture if we’ll hear them. It’s more popular to talk about grace and love, and they ARE more important. But we can miss out on God’s kingdom, and remain as foolish servants and children if we do not humble ourselves, repent, and be led and taught of the Spirit. This will often mean persecution from religious men, but it’s necessary.

Thanks Ryan. Yes, God has a way of keeping us humble. I think that it is one thing to be attacked by the world and worldly Christians, but when we are hurt by someone close to us it is harder yet for our hearts are open to them and our defenses are down. But the worst part of all is when we discover that WE have hurt someone we love due to our own negligence. Love can be a wonderful thing, but it also opens us up to really being crucified in the way it hurts the most.

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” as a sacrifice for many.

Susanne, thank you for your encouragement. Isn’t it funny how we can get a clear revelation like this that gets so many positive comments, rebloged several times and shared on FaceBook on over 140 different personal time lines and then the enemy comes in like a flood to take us down back into the pit of despair all in the same 24 hour period? Somehow the phrase, “Think it not strange…” comes to mind.

Thank you Maria. I know what you mean… so much of what is written in Christendom is “left brained”… knowledge without life in it and that LIFE only comes by God granted experience. When you place the two side by side it becomes evident which is which very quickly…

  13. Joan OF Arc 77 says:

Yes! Lacking in oil. The foolish virgins yes…very foolish. The Lord exposes that of the foolish virgins heart- purely by foolish virgins words and deeds-the foolish virgins surely think that that they are hidden behind the cloak of the Lord as they plays in the devil’s playground of arrogance-and boasting and using the Lord’s scripture as a weapon coming against the Lord’s anointed but eventually they becomes the foolish of them all because they see’s no real truth-they see through worldly eyes but they are not fooling Hashem. They know not what they speaks of and the foolish virgins think that they are smarter than their Master. The foolish virgins get exactly what they deserve and that is lessons in humility and correction it will come swiftly to all the foolish virgins–like a news flash and Hashem’s justice and vindication will arise and no doubt be seen everywhere! Strangely, many think that their oil is full when it is empty. Very interesting reading here Michael. Be blessed 🙂

Thanks, Joan. I am glad that you were blessed by what I wrote. Joan, have you written in your testimony what the churches have done to you over the years? How did the abuse start out in your life? Mine started with the nuns in Catholic school abusing their unquestioned authority over me and continued on with the pastors in Protestantism doing the same.

What the churches have done to me over the years? You must be misunderstanding. The churches have done nothing to me over the years because I have never entered into any churches nor even thought about going into any churches throughout the years. As a very young girl- some dumb Latin mass junk-false doctrines that was never instilled in me because I was a smart young lady that knew to reject that junk-Thank God! I feel VERY sorry for the poor people who have been abused by the churches-mind control and abuse on such an enormous huge level with people-wowzie–the ones stuck in it for years. So sad to have these things done to them.

I was not indoctrinated with anything Michael. I am 51 years old and I ONLY entered the churches on/off 5 years ago diligently seeking help due to these very strange supernatural spiritual experiences I was having. I was needing help and very frightened at the time. I am an ex counselor…I knew I was of sound mind and these things were really happening..but I didn’t know the bible or anything much. I just knew that Yeshua is alive and the devil is very real. These visions of Yeshua-Angels and the demons/devil is what made me enter these churches.

They couldn’t help me-nor did they even understand..sent me away calling me a demon-praying at me-crazy stuff-accusing me-judging me without even knowing me-my celibacy-my life. I really thought that the CHURCH would be the best place to go for understanding and help…NOT. Though they stand in their pulpits everyday and speak of Jesus talking to them-and of the devil and demons but the very words of the Bible they speak-they strangely can’t come to the understanding that this spiritual war among us is very real and that I walked in telling the truth of all of these things I experience! How strange to me really. I actually was shocked that this is what most of the churches are like.

I am cool with things now-because Yeshua came to me and has given me awesome lessons but I am not cool with the churches doing this to people! They need to wake up! They have NO OIL…as they think. As for my testimony-it will be world-wide in the news (goes in and out of the news) and it will ONLY glorify Jesus and ignite those who need to wake up!! wake up many who think they have oil and have none. It will also wake up those who don’t want any oil because of those abusers who ‘think’ they have oil. hehehe. It is an amazing testimony that will make every Christian cry-clap-laugh-praise-Yeshua and give such great hope when the world has very little hope right now. I can’t wait!

Thanks for sharing part of your story with me, Joan. Not all of us were so lucky to not have been steeped in church since our birth and having to spend a life time sorting Jesus out from the garbage pile of men’s doctrines about Him. God finally had to isolate me to Himself for 14 years in a spiritual and literal wilderness to purge my mind of all that crap so I could hear HIS voice instead of the voices of the hirelings. I now go to Him, the One who supplies us with His Spirit for my oil and what a difference it has made!

Awwweee Michael I am so sorry about that. But if it makes you feel any better…I got the same thing-maybe even larger concentrated doses instead of stretched out for 14 years. SHOCKING to me! Christ’s Church is not inside four walls. When the judgments arrive-they are very light right now…the TRUE warriors will arise…and many people who do not perish will be quite shocked of who they are, as well as where they come from. Not many coming from the church. So your day will come for you to rise and ‘SHINE’ and that is just a fact jack…:) be blessed
