Eating from the Tree of Life

There were two trees in the midst of the Garden of Eden, the tree of knowledge and the tree of Life. Satan did not use the tree of Life to tempt Adam and Eve, but rather appeared to them in the tree of knowledge. He still abides in that tree to this day! Men and women who try to approach Jesus on that level, scholasticism, even Bible knowledge are eating from the forbidden tree. God is Spirit and they who would know Him must do so in the Spirit of Truth, not the tree of what is good and what is evil… the letter of the law weather it be Old or New Testament law, still kills. Knowledge, even Bible knowledge, puffs up the carnal mind and elevates the one possessing it over his fellow man. But the love of God edifies those around the person walking in His love.

The temptation is still the same today, “If you eat of this tree (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) you will be like God!” It is a lie. The tree of knowledge killed Adam and Eve and it still kills today all who eat of it. If we are truly born by the Father from above we are spirit beings and as such must feed on the Tree of Life, Jesus Christ, by His Spirit in us. Jesus told the Pharisees, “You search the scriptures, in them you think you will find life and it is they which speak of me, but you will not come to me that you might have life.” The scriptures were given for one reason. They all point us to Christ (see Luke 24:27) who IS our Life. HE and only He is to be our All in all. Sad to say, many have been seduced by the enemy’s appeal to approach God through the power of their intellects and then they turn around and ask all others to bow before the idol they have created out of their Bible knowledge (see Acts 20:29-31). God has not changed His mind, they who worship Him must do so in His Spirit and in His Truth and Jesus only is that Truth and is not replaced by what has been written about Him. The Bible is only an imperfect shadow of the One who IS the Truth and we must come to Him to really know God in an intimate way. Jesus did not promise a gilded leather bound book to take His place, but He DID promise us a heavenly Teacher…

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father has are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.”
(John 16:13-15 KJ2000)

Most believers in Christ do not realize that the Bible is imperfect in the form we have today. The original prophetic words (2 Peter 1:21) were without error, but we have no originals. Whereas, the Word in the flesh, Jesus Christ, IS ‘the original’ and is alive and willing to teach us by way of the Spirit (John 15:26 and 16:13). Yes, Michael, only with the help of the Holy Spirit can we study to show ourselves approved to God and ‘rightly divide’ the word of truth.

Praise to God, He takes off the blindness about the “infallible” bible translations from peoples eyes, which really seek the truth.
My daughter got her selves a bible, written by a man who speaks the original language, so he understand the nuances/meanings of certain words.
I, my selves don`t worry too much about it all. Knowing, living in Christ, is the whole bible πŸ™‚

Gaby, so good to see you on here. I agree about Christ being our All in all. He is our sufficiency in all things and His Spirit has been given us to lead us into all truth, not those gillions of Bible scholars. All we need is found while we abide in Him.
        Love you both in Christ,
        Michael

One more short remark about “infallible bible translations”.
Of course’ I don`t throw the whole bible out…..we need the book to learn through it who Christ is and also learn about His will and His ways for our spiritual and physical life.
I started out with the Luther bible. since I am German and that bible was written in my mother tongue. Later, with “progressing” in english language, I switched over to the KJV, which I still use.
We only have to be alert when reading and open for God`s guidance.
With some passages, the interpretation can become the problem…..that`s why we have all this different denominations sprouting up during the past centuries/decades.
Where infallible humans have had their hands at….watch out for “red flags”.
        Gaby.

  2. The Bible, as useful as it is, was not promised by Jesus to lead us into all truth. But the Spirit of Christ was. To seek God and His truth in our lives is a desire that can not be reached without the Spirit. No amount of scholastic study can bring us to Christ. Jesus said to the Bible scholars of 2000 years ago, “You search the scriptures and in them you think you will find life and it is they which speak me, and you won’t come to me that you might have life.” We must come to Jesus, He is where we find life. As John wrote, “In Him was life and the life was the light of men.” Jesus, give us your life, then of You by your Spirit we will have spiritual light.

This is a sore subject with many who say they’re Christians. They get very offended when I mention it and rightly so because they know what the bible says but they don’t know Jesus. All their learning (and all the money they spent learning it) doesn’t bring them to Jesus.

It is so refreshing to see the Holy Spirit at work, that someone else sees this very same thing happening in the churches. I will be passing around your blog to family and friends because of the Truth it contains! Thank you!.

Thanks for sharing this encouraging message. I have shared about the “Holy Trinitree” at a bible study I attend. We see the tree of life in the garden of Eden, Jesus being hung on a tree, and again in the Revelation of John in heaven.. Because of the sacrifice on Jesus, we can once again walk in the presence of God.

Please know that you are an encouragement to many.
